Preview:

The Wests Tigers are on the cusp of the top eight and if they can pull off an upset against the top four placed Roosters, they will go a long way to stamping a potential ticket to the finals. Last time out Wests beat another top four side in Souths 14-9, with a late Michael Chee Kam try proving decisive. The Roosters fell to Melbourne 14-12 in a hard fought match in Adelaide and have been at far from their best in recent matches, but cling to third spot on the table, with three teams a game behind them in the standings.

State of Origin has hit the Roosters hard, with Boyd Cordner and James Tedesco, two of their most influential players out of this one. The Chooks still boast a formidable team, with five-eighth Luke Keary returning to pair Cooper Cronk and Latrell Mitchell lining up after being dumped from Origin after game one. The Tigers are impacted to a lesser extent, with captain Moses Mbye out, replaced at full back by Corey Thompson. There is still no spot for reserve half Josh Reynolds, who is not named in the starting side.

The Roosters have had the wood on the Tigers, winning 9 of the past 10 games between the two. In their round 8 meeting, the Chooks ran riot, with a Latrell Mitchell masterclass propelling them to a 42-12 win. Keary adds tremendously to the Roosters, but this is another makeshift line up for coach Trent Robinson, with Joseph Manu at full back. The Kiwi international played well at the position against the Dogs, but you get the impression the Chooks are just biding time until the end of the Origin and that’s when they’ll make their real mark. The Wolf is going to back the more stable Tigers side in an upset.
