Preview:

Old rivals go at it on Thursday night when the Bunnies play the Chooks. It is a big game for Souths, with a win assuring them of a top four spot. They have made just one change to their side that defeated the Warriors 31-10 in Auckland a week ago, with Kyle Turner’s quad injury meaning Tom Amone comes in.

The Roosters continued their winning ways in round 24, beating Penrith 22-6 to register their seventh win in a row. They are assured a second place finish regardless of Thursday night’s result.

There are a couple of big ins for the Chooks, with Boyd Cordner and Cooper Cronk both coming back in, while Siosiua Taukeiaho makes way because of a rib injury.

The Tricolours’ form at home and on the road has been prolific, with the Roosters covering 7 of 11 games away from their home ground at the SCG. Souths are just 3-8 against the spread in home games, which ranks them as the second poorest home side at the handicap, ahead of only the Titans.

In round 1, it was Souths who got the jump on the Roosters, winning 26-16. Three second half tries ensured the Bunnies pulled away to register the win, but they have lost four of their previous five games against Sydney, including a 12-4 loss in the 2018 preliminary finals.

The Wolf isn’t going to step away from taking the Roosters to cover this one. They won’t be short of motivation and have shown no mercy in recent weeks. They have covered the spread in their past five games and won four of those by 16+ points. They should continue that good form ahead of finals and bank another two points.
