Souths got back in the winners circle with a dramatic 21-20 win against the Sea Eagles in round 17 and despite their run of poor form are in second spot on the table. They travel to Townsville for a match against the Cowboys, who pulled off last round’s biggest upset.
The $4+ underdogs prevailed 15-12 against the Roosters in Gosford to move into 10th spot on the table, just one game outside the eight. Michael Morgan has been named in the reserves after two concussions in two weeks and missing the Roosters game. Jordan Kahu’s suspension sees Javid Bowen replace him in the centres.
Ethan Lowe returns for Souths after a stellar Origin game with Liam Knight out suspended. The Bunnies are still without all three Burgess brothers. The two teams met in Magic Round at Suncorp Stadium, with the Bunnies winning 32-16.
They have won three in a row against the Cows, but just one of their past three at 1300SMILES Stadium and that was by a point in 2018. The Rabbits are in the bottom four in terms of covering handicaps in 2019 at 6-1-9, while the Cows are an even 8-8.
The Wolf thinks that if Michael Morgan is a late call up, the Cows price will come tumbling down and Souths’ forward pack might be overwhelming by the strength of the Cowboys in that department and snare another upset win.
