Preview:

The bottom placed Dogs will be hunting their first win in more than a month when they host Cronulla at ANZ Stadium. At 3-11, the Dogs are out of finals contention, while the Sharks’ 7-6 record has them in seventh spot, but just a game outside the top four. Their round 14 loss in Canberra would have been a bitter blow, especially after coming back from 20-0 down to draw level, only to lose by two points. For the Dogs, a 38-12 loss to an under strength Roosters side at the SCG highlighted their many flaws, one of which is defence.

Jack Cogger has recovered from his concussion that saw him miss the game against the Chooks and is back for this one, partnering Kieran Foran. In an unwanted injury blow for the Dogs, Jeremy Marshall-King is out, with Michael Lichaa coming back into the team from reserve grade. For Cronulla, Andrew Fifita’s suspension has Braden Hamlin-Uele starting, while Wade Graham also starts for the first time since his injury layoff after appearances from the bench this season.

The Sharks have had the wood on the Dogs in recent times, winning the past six games between the two clubs. Four of those six wins have been by single digit margins. The Wolf can’t see the same thing happening this Sunday, with the Dogs needing a rapid improvement to get close to Cronulla in this one.
