Each enduring disappointing 2022 campaigns to date, the Western Bulldogs and Essendon will face off at Marvel Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
The Bulldogs will enter Round 7 on the heels of a shock 63-62 loss to Adelaide in Ballarat, which dropped their record to 2-4 this season.
Tom Liberatore (33 disposals, 10 tackles, nine clearances) and Josh Dunkley (28 disposals, 10 tackles, one goal) did what they could during that defeat but couldn’t cover for underwhelming performances from a number of key players.
Meanwhile, Essendon dropped to 1-5 via its 93-82 loss to Collingwood on ANZAC Day.
Darcy Parish maintained his status as a big-game player during that defeat, accumulating 44 disposals, 30 of which came during a scintillating first half.
Unfortunately for the Bombers, Parish injured his ankle early in the fourth quarter of that defeat, leaving him under an injury cloud for this one.
Another loss would equal Essendon’s worst start through seven matches in club history.
