The Swans have won four of their past six games and just as they were starting to get some momentum, they lose gun forward Lance Franklin to a hamstring injury that will see the veteran sidelined for a couple of weeks. They are two games outside the top eight and while a spot in the finals is unlikely, a win against the Suns on Saturday will be invaluable. Gold Coast has won just one of its past 10 games and lost last time out against the Saints in Townsville by four points to leave them 3-10 on the season.
The last time these two sides met was in round 18 last season, when the Suns shocked the Swans by four goals. On that day, the Suns recorded the biggest upset win in betting terms as 60.5 point underdogs and more than $10 on the head to head money line. Their victory was even more impressive given they trailed by 29 points at quarter time, with the Swans goalless in the second and third terms. Sydney is 8-1 overall against the Suns at all venues. Gold Coast is 1-3 at the SCG.
The Wolf can’t make much of a case for the Suns who are in the worse form of any side in the league at present. Touk Miller and Pearce Hanley could be back from injury in a boost to the battling club. Callum Sinclair and Isaac Heeney are the two to watch in terms of niggles picked up last week, but all reports are they should be good to go. The Swans will have too much for the Suns and will pick up a big win in the Harbour City to avenge their shock defeat a year ago.
