Hawthorn Hawks vs Brisbane Lions Preview
If there’s one thing the mighty Brisbane Lions (proudly sponsored by Neds) love is getting the chance to play on the MCG and playing Hawthorn.
There will be none of the old Fitzroy faithful to cheer them on, but the Lions could do with a solid hit-out at the home of Football so they can be ready for whenever the Grand Final is played this year.
Some predict that the Lions are a one-season wonder, but we know that not to be true.
Our boys will be looking to come out all guns blazing and if there’s an improvement from last season, the good times are going to roll at the Gabba this year.
Hawthorn finished 2019 well but it was too little, too late for them.
There is an element of the unknown about the Hawks and to quote Peter McKenna’s commentary from the 1987 Preliminary Final (Gary Buckernara 15 meter penalty) “Never, ever write off Hawthorn.”
That’s a good theory, but we’re writing them off in Round 1.
