Regular season action heads to Townsville when the Suns host the Saints on Saturday afternoon. Both teams will be accustomed to the warm conditions lately, with the Saints returning from Shanghai before a bye week last round. Their 70 point thrashing by the Power was their biggest loss of the season, making their first trip to China a miserable one.
After a promising start to the season, both sides have faded away in recent weeks, with the Saints drifting to 13th and the Suns just one game off the bottom in 17th spot. They suffered a 27-point loss to North last weekend, but won the final three quarters after falling into a 35 point quarter time hole. The Suns have lost 8 games in a row, while St Kilda has lost five of its past six.
These teams are the two lowest in the competition for points scored this season, with the Saints ranking 17th and the Suns ranking 18th. An expected top temperature of 27 degrees on Saturday, with plenty of humidity, will make things difficult for the players. The Wolf can’t back the Suns at the moment, so it’s the Saints in a low scoring match in this one.
