Geelong finished the home and away season on top of the AFL ladder and are carrying a 13 game win streak to the 2022 AFL Finals series.
Their resurgence as the top seed in the competition has been thanks to the growth of a number of young players including Sam De Koning, Max Holmes, Tyson Stengle, Tom Atkins and Brad Close to name a few.
Five Cats were named in the All Australian team including three of the six players from the forward line in Hawkins, Cameron and Stengle.
Just like Richmond in 2017, Collingwood will have the advantage of their home ground despite finishing lower on the ladder than the Cats but they too bring in excellent form into September.
Just one loss since Round 9 means the Pies secured the double chance and they have been the kings of the comeback and tight finishes throughout the tail end of the season.
They boast two wins over Melbourne but failed against both Geelong and Sydney during the regular season.
Collingwood’s last six games at the MCG have been decided by a margin of 15 points or less but I think that trend ends on Saturday afternoon.
