The final game of round 15 has the Dockers hosting the Blues, with both teams coming off narrow last start losses. Freo went down by 14 points at the MCG against the Demons in round 14, while Carlton lost by three points to the Dogs in round 13, after staging a near miracle and coming back from more than 5 goals down late in the match. The Dockers are one of the round’s shortest priced favourites up against the league’s bottom side.
Michael Walters was deemed free to play at the tribunal on Tuesday night after being sighted for a headbutt, with the Dockers’ leading goal kicker with 28 so far this season an enormous boost to their chances this week. Carlton could welcome back defender Liam Jones to the fold, with the Blues now holding one of the competition’s shorter injury lists. Freo is 5-2 at home this season, but just 4-3 against the spread and only twice has the over gone in Freo home games. The Blues have played just once at Optus Stadium so far, losing by 29 points and not covering the starting handicap.
The 2-10 Blues have been better with David Teague in charge, covering three of their past four games. The Dockers have been strong against the line (8-5) this season, but have only covered the starting 23.5 points in this once twice this season, once in round 1 against the Roos where they won by 82 points and against the Giants in round 5, where they won by 24 points. The Wolf senses the Blues can keep it close against a Freo side who rarely blow teams off the park.
