The Bombers big loss to the Power ended a memorable month for the red and black as they fought back week after week from deficits to win. Port overpowered Essendon at both ends of the ground to record a thumping 59-point win at Marvel Stadium.
The Dons will look to bounce back against a Dogs side that has its finals hopes hanging by a thread. A three-goal loss to Brisbane leaves them in a must-win position this week, as they are a game and sizeable percentage behind the eighth placed Crows on the ladder.
This is the closest match odds-wise this round, with the Dons narrow favourites. That is despite the Dogs winning four of their past five games against Essendon. Last time these two sides met was way back in round three last season, with the Dogs winning by 19 points.
Dyson Heppell could be back after missing two weeks with a foot injury, while the status of Darcy Parish, Adam Saad and Aaron Francis will be a mystery for Bombers fans until team selection. Shaun McKernan was a late withdrawal last week, but should be back for this one.
The Wolf likes what both of these teams bring to the table, but both fade in and out of games. In a coin flip, it’s the Dogs in a nail biter.
