The Blues will be hungry to improve on last week’s effort against Richmond when they take on a questionable looking Collingwood side on Thursday night.

Last week’s 25-point loss really didn’t reflect how tight the game was as Carlton gave the reigning premiers a decent scare with some tremendous pressure and run through the midfield.

Collingwood was far from disgraced in their 16-point loss to a dangerous looking Bulldogs side, but the Pies did look vulnerable at various stages in another low-scoring effort.

Nathan Buckley’s men were severely outclassed in the disposals and inside 50 count, a worrying sign going up against a lively Carlton outfit beaming with confidence following last week’s close call.

On the injury front, there is some good news for Collingwood fans with Steele Sidebottom a chance at returning.

The Blues, meanwhile, are set to welcome back Eddie Betts and Jack Martin into the forward line, while there are also high hopes for Mitch McGovern.

Collingwood has dominated this fixture in recent years winning each of the last four contests, but it is worth noting the Blues are 9-3 as the line underdog over the last 12 months.

After a positive showing against Richmond and a couple of key forwards returning, the Blues are more than capable of taking this out.
