Sydney Roosters vs Cronulla Sharks Preview

The Sydney Roosters made it look relatively easy in Round 4 when beating the Warriors 32-12. It took a little while for them to get going, but their class shone through in the end. We saw the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks at full-flight last week as well. The Cowboys are struggling, but for the Sharks to score six first-half tries has filled John Morris’ side with confidence.

Morris brings back Jesse Ramien for this one too. The strike centre is a welcome replacement for Connor Tracey, who wasn’t always up to standard playing out of position. While it’s not the 17 he’d liked to have named, Trent Robinson is sending the same side out this week after getting through Round 4 without any long-term injuries.

The rest of the NRL must be a little bit worried about what they saw out of the Roosters last week. Even with Walker on debut and Victor Radley looking as clunky with the ball in his hands as we’ve ever seen him in his first game back from injury, the result never looked in doubt. Things should only get better this week. It’s a concern for the Sharks despite their thrashing of the Cowboys last week. We’ve still seen too many holes in their middle defence, and this Roosters pack should dominate through the centre-third to lay a platform for Walker, James Tedesco and company. Beating the Cowboys doesn’t do much for the form guide in 2021. Expect the Chooks to do it comfortably.
