The Eagles climb up the ladder continues as they bounced back from a one-point loss to the Pies in round 17 to squeeze past Melbourne by 13 points in Alice Springs. The Eagles trailed at three-quarter time, but their class prevailed with a four goal to one final term securing the win and third spot on the ladder.

North were desperately unlucky not to come away from the Gabba with four points. After leading for two and a half quarters, the Lions pegged them back to win by two goals, leaving them two games outside the eight and with it all to do if they hope to play finals.

The Roos have gone 1-1 in two visits to Optus Stadium, but were thumped by Freo to the tune of 82 points in round 1 at the venue. They are 1-7 against the line this season and are 19.5-point underdogs for this one. The Eagles are 9-8 on the spread, but just 4-5 at home.

North have played a lot better since the sacking of Brad Scott and The Wolf thinks they can keep things respectable against the Eagles, despite a big travel load in the past fortnight, going from Brisbane to Melbourne and then to Perth.
