It wasn’t pretty, but the Saints came marching home late last week to pick up their seventh win of the season over the Crows.

St Kilda trailed for most of the game before Max King and Paddy Ryder took over in the final term, and it’s fair to say Brett Ratten will be hoping his side can avoid a similar slow start against hapless North this week.

While the Roos are almost certain to finish with the wooden spoon, there was a bit to like about their performance last week against reigning premiers Melbourne.

David Noble’s side trailed by only 20 points at half-time, a drastic improvement compared to some of the performances North has offered up this year.

Stopping St Kilda’s potent forward line is another huge challenge for the Roos this week, while the addition of Jack Higgins gives the Saints another huge weapon inside 50.

The Saints have been notoriously slow starters this season, so it wouldn’t be surprising if North gives this a real crack early.

The Saints should finish strongly and win quite well, but with a 40+ point line on offer, the safer play might be on the Roos to keep it tight at half time.
