A big crowd is expected on Sunday for a good old fashioned rivalry game between the Pies and the Blues.

Fresh from a statement victory over Fremantle in Perth last week, Collingwood will be hoping to continue its push for a top eight spot, while the Blues are now shooting for five in a row, and if results go their way, second spot on the ladder.

The Pies have won four of their last five games against Carlton, but this is a much different Blues outfit to the ones they’ve seen in previous years.

Even without Harry McKay, Carlton’s forward line proved a real handful for the Swans last week as Charlie Curnow kicked six in the 15-point win.

Patrick Cripps is also in Brownlow best form, while Sam Walsh is beginning to heat up at the right time, too.

Jack Ginnivan and Jack Crisp pose similar problems for the Blues, but given Collingwood’s problems around the clearances this year, Carlton should be able to dominate in that area of the game.

Better yet, the Blues rank top five in inside 50s this season, while they’ve also been one of the most efficient teams when it comes to disposals.

Collingwood should be up and about following last week’s win over the Dockers, but this does feel like a potential statement game for the Blues against a club they love to beat.
