Footy returns to Alice Springs on Sunday when the lowly Dees host the Eagles. Both teams are coming off narrow round 17 defeats, with Melbourne falling to the Dogs by eight points last Sunday and the Eagles losing by a point to the Pies last Friday night.

The Alice has been a mixed bag for the Dees, who are 2-3 at TIO Traeger Park all time and 3-2 against the spread at the ground. West Coast has never played at the venue, but in the Northern Territory they are 1-0 overall.

At 5-11, its been a miserable season for the Dees after bowing out in last year’s preliminary final at the hands of the Eagles by 11 goals. In their round 9 match, Melbourne kept it close and actually led at three-quarter time before another of their now customary late collapses saw West Coast boot six goals to one in the fourth to win by 16 points.

The Dees are just 5-11 against the spread in 2019 but saw their handicap come tumbling in against the Dogs from +12.5 to +2.5 before the match, but ultimately losing by eight points. The Eagles are being offered at a respectable line in this one and will be keen to bounce back from a last start loss. In the past month, the Dees have only lost by five and eight points, so it wouldn’t surprise The Wolf if they got over the line or kept it close, but on balance, the Eagles have much more to play for and are a three goal better side.
