The 2019 coaching curse has struck again, with under fire Saints coach Alan Richardson stepping down on Tuesday. His Saints were on a wretched run winning just 2 of their past 10 games and languishing in 15th spot on the table. North and Carlton have both had mid season coaching changes and won the week of the change, so could it be third time lucky for the Saints?
They host the Dogs at Marvel Stadium on Sunday night after a 27 point loss to Geelong at GMHBA Stadium, one of their more respectable defeats in recent times. The Dogs got the better of Melbourne to win their third game in a row. The Wolf has mentioned the Dogs have played own to their opposition at times this season, with losses to Carlton and the Gold Coast testament to that, while they had a narrow three point win against Carlton in June as well.
The stats aren’t pretty for the Saints who are 5-11 against the spread compared to the Dogs’ 9-7 mark. This is their only clash in 2019, with the Dogs winning four of the past five against the boys from Moorabbin. They are sure to fire up this week after the coach has walked away and while The Wolf doesn’t see them winning, this won’t be a walk in the park for the Sons of the West.
