The Giants and Dogs meet on Saturday afternoon in Sydney, with the visitors the $1.78 favourites to topple the AFL’s newest side. GWS are a finals regular, having played in September for four straight seasons, but are $2.05 home underdogs to progress to week two.
The red, white and blue finished the season on a roll to finish seventh, winning four of their past five games and crushing teams on their way to the pointy end of the season. Just two rounds ago they hammered the Giants by 61 points in Sydney, so they won’t be short of confidence, having won their past two games at Giants Stadium, including the 2016 preliminary final.
GWS is 6-2 straight up at home and 5-3 against the handicap, with the over hitting in every home game. Away from Marvel Stadium, the Dogs have hit the over seven times and under three times, while covering the line on seven occasions on the road from 11 games.
The Doggies are riding a wave of momentum into the finals and although the Giants were without leading goal kicker Jeremy Cameron for that 10 goal loss a few weeks ago, The Wolf senses the Dogs could be up to something again in September and are great odds to keep their season going.
