The Cats steadied the ship with a 27-point win against the Swans at the SCG and have back-to-back interstate trips to negotiate this round when they travel to Perth to play Freo.

The Dockers’ season is in free fall as they were crushed by the Dogs to the tune of 47 points. They have lost five of their past six matches, but staggeringly find themselves just a game and percentage outside the eight, although they are not a team The Wolf fancies to make the finals.

Geelong has had the wood on Freo in recent meetings, battering the Dockers by 133 points in their only meeting in 2018. In Perth, this will be their first meeting at Optus Stadium, but in previous meetings in the West, Geelong has won two in a row, by 42 and 17 points respectively.

The Dockers have won three quarters of their games this season at Optus Stadium, but are just 4-6 in covering the spread at home. They average 77 points in home games, while the Cats’ average of 91.7 points has dipped in recent weeks, with last week’s 107-point haul their most since round 12. The Wolf can’t back an out of sorts Freo side against the league leaders, although the Dockers shouldn’t get blown out of the water.
