The Battle of the Bridge takes place at Giants Stadium on Saturday afternoon when GWS host The Swans. Sydney hold an 11-6 record all-time against the competition’s newest club, but it is GWS with it all to play for in this encounter, with the Swans out of finals contention.
The Giants strung together back-to-back wins with a one-point thriller against Port last weekend. The Swans were in their game against the Cats at half-time, but fell away in the third term, losing by 27 points to drop to 15th on the ladder.
The away side has won the past three matches between these sides, with GWS taking this season’s round 6 meeting by 41 points at the SCG. The Swans had no answer for the Giants’ forward potency, with the now injured Stephen Coniglio booting a team-best four goals.
Defender Dane Rampe is out, with Jackson Thurlow in line for a recall. The Swans’ defence is sure to be under plenty of pressure with Jeremy Cameron a recent nemesis of the Swans, booting three goals in round six.
The Giants’ record at home has been solid, winning five of six in Sydney. Their lone loss was to the Lions. They are 5-1 agains the spread at home. The Swans are 3-2 all time at Giants Stadium and 2-3 against the spread, but with the top four in their sights, The Wolf can’t turn down the Giants and the points.
