The Lions shouldn’t be short on motivation at the Gabba on Saturday afternoon.

Brisbane blew a game they probably should have won last week against the Hawks in Tassie, one that saw them hold a comfortable four-goal lead midway through the third term.

Uncharacteristically, Chris Fagan’s side panicked when the Hawks hit back late in the quarter, while some controversial umpiring decisions certainly didn’t help matters.

Losing to his old club won’t sit well with Fagan, particularly after his side struggled to take a mark inside 50 for most of the game.

The Giants, on the other hand, played an inspired brand of footy under new interim coach Mark McVeigh.

GWS walked away comfortable 52-point winners over West Coast, but on the flip side, they did allow 86 points to one of the worst teams in the competition.

The Lions do have some concerns up forward with Dan McStay and Joe Daniher missing, but if they can win the ground ball and keep the turnovers to a minimum, this looks like a nice bounce-back game before they hit a very treacherous stretch of schedule.
