The Wallabies opened their Rugby World Cup campaign with a steady 39-21 victory over a strong Fiji side, where they produced a strong second half to come from behind to win. In their second match, they took on the top ranked side in their pool, Wales.
The Welsh got out to a commanding lead at halftime only for the Wallabies to produce a stunning second half, however Wales hung on grimly for a 29-25 victory.
Australia were overwhelming favourites in their last two pool games, where they beat Uruguay 45-10 and then cruised through Georgia with a 27-8 victory, to finish behind Wales in their Pool.
England opened their World Cup with a solid 35-3 win over a tricky Tongan side.
Four days later the English backed up to record a comfortable 45-7 win over the United States. England then made light work of Argentina, recording a 39-10 win.
Their much anticipated final pool match against France was abandoned due to the threat of Typhoon Hagibis.
The match was regarded as essentially a nil all draw, meaning England finished at the top of the Pool, undefeated.
