Preview:

Sunday night footy makes a cameo this weekend with the Dragons hosting the Raiders to close round 17. The closest betting match of the round pits the top four Green Machine against the 12th placed Dragons, with both sides losing their last outing.

The Raiders dominated Parramatta for 38 minutes in the first half, but let in two, late, momentum changing tries that swung the pendulum the Eels way and they romped home. For the Dragons, a two point loss to Melbourne last round without their Origin players was valiant, but they need wins if they hope to play finals.

Canberra boasts the second best defence in the league, leaking just 14.8 points per game, while the Dragons is one of the worst at 21.9 points per game. In their round 11 meeting last season, the Dragons prevailed by seven points, with the home side winning the past four matches in this series.

A host of Origin players back up will boost the Dragons, but Canberra will benefit from being the fresher side and want to atone for their last start loss, so The Wolf is backing the better side to get the win on the road.

Wolf Facts

  • The Raiders last win at WIN Stadium, Wollongong was Round 20, 2013 with a 22-18 victory.
  • The Dragons are doing a lot of defensive work, sitting first in tackles made with 355 per match.
  • Jarrod Croker just needs 4 more points to reach 100 career points against the Dragons.
