The action is underway in Wollongong on Thursday night when the Dragons, who haven’t had a single player selected for Origin, take on the understrength Broncos, who have been generally bad when they have been at full strength.

The Dragons have been steadily dropping down the ladder for the last six weeks or so, and they are now winless since Round 9.

This is obviously the perfect opportunity for them to bounce back and if they don’t take anything from Thursday’s contest, you can pretty much write them off in 2021.

It’s certainly nothing like how it used to be when almost their entire squad got the call up to Queensland, but the Broncos will be without their major strike weapon this week, Xavier Coates as well as their primary enforcer, Payne Haas.

It would take a herculean effort from the Broncos, and I’m not confident they can or will muster one.
