Penrith Panthers vs Canberra Raiders Preview

We need an NRL blockbuster after Round 4, and this one could be it. The Penrith Panthers are unbeaten after handling the Sea Eagles with relative ease. It got to the point last week that Ivan Cleary’s side started to use the match to test out their set plays. While not as dominant, the Canberra Raiders got the job done to beat the Titans 20-4 and reaffirm their position as a top side in the competition.

As expected, Cleary has named the same 17 to go around this week. Ricky Stuart has managed to improve his side with Joseph Tapine returning to the #13 jersey. Ryan James drops back to the bench with Ryan Sutton and Josh Papalii named to start at this stage.

This might be the best Raiders side named so far this season. Their pack is one of the best in the business, and the spine knows how to find the line. However, what the Raiders can do, the Panthers can do better. Along with the superior list, Penrith has shown a willingness to be patient in attack. Forcing their way into the opposition 20-metre line and requiring two or three sets to find points isn’t an issue for Nathan Cleary and co. It what looks like a rare NRL arm wrestle this season, Penrith’s patience might be the difference.
