Another week, another win for the Parramatta Eels. They did it easy to start. Without Clint Gutherson and Blake Ferguson’s issues at the back in the first half, their 36-22 win over the Tigers would never have been as close as it once was. The St. George-Illawarra Dragons made the most of Newcastle’s injuries to grind out a 22-13 win.

Ryan Matterson was a late scratch last week but has been named to start on Sunday. Isaiah Papali’i reverts back to the bench. Interestingly, Bryce Cartwright makes his club debut with Keegan Hipgrave and Ray Stone dropping out. On the Dragons side of the teamsheet, Jack Bird is back into the centres forcing Brayden Wiliame into #17.

While the Dragons have surprised everyone to start the 2021 NRL season, there is no doubt that they’ve received a healthy share of luck along the way. It took the Knights losing their most influential player and three of the four players in their spine for the Dragons to get in front and win the game last week. Up against an unbeaten Eels side on Sunday, even a repeat of that scenario might not be enough for the Dragons. Parramatta are on fire, and in Round 4, showed a level of patience we’ve not always seen. Starting well before conceding points in quick succession, Parramatta got things back on track before blowing the Tigers off the park late. They will be out to do similar without the dropped balls at the back leading to opposition points on Sunday.
