Newcastle will be out to avoid a seventh straight loss when it hosts North Queensland on Saturday afternoon. The Knights’ season has spiralled out of control, winning just 3 of their past 10 games to fall to 12th on the ladder and 1.5 games off the 8th placed Broncos.
Last week’s 20-14 loss has prompted a couple of changes by Nathan Brown, with Connor Watson preferred at hooker and Tim Glasby ruled out with concussion, replaced by Josh King.
Jordan McLean is back for the Cows, who were unlucky to lose 18-14 at the death to Brisbane. Josh McGuire drew the ire of the match review committee and misses three weeks, with Matt Scott keeping his spot in the forwards.
The Cowboys have won five in a row against the Knights in this series and this is the first time the two play this season. The Knights have covered just four times at home this season and the shine has certainly faded after a mid-season purple patch. The Wolf won’t be backing them as favourites any time soon, so its Cows and the points.
