Melbourne set its campaign in motion with its most Storm-like performance of the season last Friday, subduing Souths 18-10 with a mighty defensive display and some customary Cameron Munster brilliance and a superb performance from Harry Grant.

The Storm are 3-2 and get Jahrome Hughes back from suspension. Hughes and Munster haven’t teamed up since Round 1, while Tariq Sims returns on the bench.

The 3-1 Sydney Roosters have crept up to third on the ladder despite being yet to hit top gear, bookending the bye with handy wins over the Rabbitohs (20-18) and Eels (28-20). They dominated Parramatta for the most part before conceding a couple of late tries.

James Tedesco is out this week but Joey Manu returns from suspension to take his place at fullback. There were great signs from a Jared Waerea-Hargreaves-led pack last week, allowing Brandon Smith and Luke Keary to get on the front foot and rip up the Eels’ defence.

The Storm’s five-match winning streak against the Roosters came to an end via an 18-14 home loss in Round 24 last season. The Roosters have a decent 4-6 record at AAMI Park.

Since 2017, seven of the clubs’ 13 clashes have been decided by four points or less and this shapes as another super-tight tussle with both sides running into a bit of form. The Roosters have won seven of eight without Tedesco, but close margins and low totals look the best bets here.
