Preview:

This week’s match of the round comes from Melbourne when the league leading Storm host the Knights on Saturday afternoon. Winners of six straight, the Knights have knocked off the Roosters and Bunnies in consecutive weeks. If they can take out the Storm, then they are certainly more than just top four contenders.

A last start 20-12 win against Souths was achieved without Origin duo Kalyn Ponga and David Klemmer. The latter will be out for some time with a wrist injury, while Ponga is back for this important clash. His return moves Kurt Mann back into the halves and Mason Lino drops out to the reserves. The Storm ran away with things in New Zealand last weekend, winning 32-10 and Craig Bellamy has stuck with the same unit that took care of business last week.

The Storm hold a strong record against the Knights, but this Newcastle side is a far cry from the one that has taken the field in recent seasons. In their round 6 meeting in Melbourne a year ago, the Storm got the job done 40-14. Prior to that in 2017, it was 40-12. The Wolf doesn’t see the scoreline blowing out on Saturday though and Newcastle can more than hold their own, especially with this newfound confidence of theirs.
