Canberra Raiders vs Cronulla Sharks Preview
Friday night’s double-header begins with the Canberra Raiders hosting the Cronulla Sharks at GIO Stadium.
Both teams narrowly missed finals football a season ago, finishing ninth and 10th, and they will be looking to begin 2022 on the best possible note coming off that disappointment.
There will be several fresh faces amongst both squads after some big offseasons, however, Jamal Fogarty (Canberra) and Cam McInnes (Cronulla) will have to wait to pull on their new colours.
With Fogarty missing, Brad Schneider will step up for the Raiders at halfback in just his second first-grade appearance.
Youngster James Schiller has been rewarded for some good trial form with a debut in the centres and will partner Matt Timoko with skipper Jarrod Croker missing out on selection.
The Sharks will unveil Nicho Hynes and Matt Ikuvalu in a new-look backline, while fellow recruit Dale Finucane will captain the side from lock in the absence of Wade Graham.
