The 12-10 Taipans’ season-changing five-game winning streak – culminating in an 85-79 home win over the Breakers last Thursday – came to an end via a 92-83 loss away to the Kings two days later. The 11-11 Sixers have kept the heat on with wins over the Hawks (102-96) and United (100-86) at home in their last two. But they are just 4-7 on the road this season, losing their last two away.
The 36ers chalked up a 101-97 early-season win over the Taipans – their sixth straight in the rivalry. But the Taipans stopped the rot with a 94-86 victory in Cairns three weeks ago, with DJ Newbill (26 pts) and Cameron Oliver (21 pts, 15 reb) starring.
The Taipans boast a dominant 9-3 home record this season and have to be favoured to grab a crucial win on Saturday.
