Australian superstar Ash Barty begins her Wimbledon campaign and a quest for a second Grand Slam title next week as favourite with TAB at $5.

For the first time since Lleyton Hewitt in 2003, an Australian will enter The Championships as the World Number 1.

Patriotic punters predict it is the crafty Queenslander’s tournament to lose as she currently holds 73 percent of the money wagered on the Wimbledon Women’s Singles winner.

Eight-time Wimbledon champion Serena Williams is next best backed ($7), however, she is still battling a left knee complaint but is not without hope on her favourite surface.

Other contenders include Japanese sensation Naomi Osaka ($13), defending champion Angelique Kerber ($13) and local favourite Johanna Konta ($17).

The Men’s Singles appears to be more straight-forward with Novak Djokovic the TAB favourite at $2.50 as he holds 60 percent of the money wagered on the men’s side.

Coming off his 12th French Open title, Rafael Nadal ($6.50) is next best backed followed by eight-time Wimbledon champion Roger Federer ($4).

Spearheading the Australian contingent is Nick Kyrgios ($41), Alex De Minaur ($201) and Jordan Thompson ($301).
