The Eagles picked up their first win of the season last week against Collingwood, but they’ve since been dealt a serious blow with star ruckman Nic Natanui ruled out indefinitely after suffering a knee injury.
It’s more bad news for a West Coast team that has endured a horror start to the season, and it couldn’t have come at a worse time with a hungry Swans outfit in town on Friday night.
Sydney just scraped by to dispose of wooden spoon favourites North Melbourne last week, a performance that has to have John Longmire wanting more from his side.
The Swans have some injury concerns themselves with superstar forward Buddy Franklin set for a stint on the sideline after fracturing his finger, but unlike their opponents this week, Sydney has tremendous depth to call upon.
The Bloods throttled West Coast 118-26 when they met last July – their fourth win from their last five games against the Eagles – and if they can dominate the ruck battle with Naitanui missing, they should go a long way to winning big again.
