Richmond Tigers vs Port Adelaide Preview
The Tigers and Power both take to the ‘G on Thursday night with similar goals in mind.
Richmond has had an extra week to reflect on its controversial loss to the Swans a fortnight ago, while Port is looking to improve on a 16-point win over Essendon that has left them right in the thick of the finals picture.
These two clubs have played out some absolute classics in recent years, Port winning narrowly by two points last year after the Tigers prevailed by a goal the season prior.
The Power have won four of their last five in what has been an impressive mid-season turnaround, but the same can be said for the Tigers, who were their own worst enemy against the Swans allowing a five-goal half-time lead to slip.
Turnovers and marks inside 50 were two key issues for Richmond, but there’s no doubt Damien Hardwick has spent most of the break addressing what went wrong.
Returning home to Melbourne should help the Tigers bounce back, while statistically, they’ve also been a much more reliable team when it comes to scoring points.
Richmond has averaged four goals more per-game than Port this year, not to mention how much stronger they’ve been when it comes to taking contested marks.
Despite the loss to Sydney, the Tigers have still covered the line in each of their last six games, a record they can add to with Tom Lynch a chance at returning up forward.
