The Power and Lions are both coming off underdog wins in round 16 and will meet in one of the trickiest games to pick in round 17. Brisbane’s resurgence is no flash in the pan, with the Lions up to fourth on the table, a game clear of the fifth placed Giants who they dispatched last weekend. Port is also back in the eight this week after thrashing the Crows in the Showdown by 57 points.
The Lions are 0-6 at Adelaide Oval, losing by an average of 76 points, but this Lions side is a far cry from that of recent seasons. In 2019 they are 10-5 against the handicap and Lions games have gone over 10 times in 2019. The Power are 5-3 at home, where they score on average, 11 more points than their opposition. Their overall performance against the line is poor though at just 3-5, while they are 6-9 overall.
Brisbane has done plenty of good things this season, but this will test them. A trip to Adelaide after a season defining win in Sydney has all the hallmarks of a let down spot. But the Power are in a similar position. They would have been up all week to play Adelaide and now the real test for them is how they respond after a surprisingly big win. The Wolf is going back the young Lions to make it three on the trot on the road and really announce themselves to the competition.
