Two teams in ripping form meet in Launceston, with the Lions looking to cement a spot in the top four and the Hawks hoping to go one step closer to a miraculous top eight berth.

At 8-9, the Hawks have it all to do if they want to play finals, but they have won their past three games against the Dockers, Pies and Cats, with their 24-point win against their old enemy last week their best performance of the season. They led for the majority of the match and challenged the league leaders, who struggled to put a winning score on the board.

Brisbane’s two-goal win against North at the Gabba was shrouded in controversy after a late free kick to Oscar McInerney set up their win. The Lions are rolling at 12-5 and have won five games in a row.

The Hawks and Launceston have been money for The Wolf this season. At 33-1-5 since 2009, its proven profitable long term. This season Hawthorn is 3-0 at the ground, covering the line in two of those games. Brisbane doesn’t have the same good fortune in Tasmania, at just 1-6 in the past decade, but they did win their match in the Apple Isle by 33 points last season.

This is a must-win for the Hawks and Brisbane’s third road game in four weeks will catch up to them. The Hawks’ price is too good for The Wolf to pass up.
