This game is a fascinating matchup.

Port Adelaide have talked up a big game over the off-season with coach Ken Hinkley declaring “finals or bust”.

The Power have been very 50/50 over the past couple of seasons with narrow finals misses.

This has to be the year they bring in some consistency.

You’d think playing the Gold Coast Suns in the first round would be a great way to get your season underway, but you’d be wrong.

It may only have been pre-season but the Suns could not have performed any better over the Marsh Series with solid wins over Geelong and the Crows.

Their first-round picks Noah Anderson and Matt Rowell really stood out in these games and the Suns looked to have some much-needed ticker that was lacking towards the end of last year.

It’s also worth pointing out that the Gold Coast Suns tend to start the early part of the season well.

They won three out of their first four games (with the only loss being a 1 point defeat at the hands of the Saints) before losing their next 18.
