The Cats have a favourable run home, but with the bottom half of the eight looking far from certain, they need to improve drastically to ensure a return to finals.

Chris Scott’s men played a spirited first half in the loss to Port last week, leading by seven points at the main break before things went south.

Turnovers and a lack of inside 50 entries crept into Geelong’s game, but their troubles around the clearances were glaring, losing to Port in a 45-29 landslide.

Ball movement has been a huge issue for the Cats all year, which doesn’t inspire much confidence against a Melbourne side sporting fresh legs.

Likewise, the Dees have had their own problems moving the ball forward this season, but with fresh legs and confidence high after knocking off the Pies on the King’s Birthday, it’s surprising to find so much value on offer in the market.

On one hand, a high-scoring game can be expected between two clubs that rank top five in points scored, but given how stingy the Dees have been defensively this year, it’s hard to get excited about the Cats’ chances.

Simon Goodwin’s men have done a fantastic job limiting forward half entries this year, not to mention the fact the Dees have held their last three opponents to under 80 points.

Rhys Stanley’s inclusion is a huge boost for the Geelong ruck, but Patrick Dangerfield back on the sideline alongside Esava Rautogolea, this shapes as a tough matchup for the home side.
