The Crows are on the board. Avoiding the first winless season since 1964, the relief was palpable across the face of first-year coach Matthew Nicks and for that matter, the entire club after brushing past a disappointing Hawthorn in Round 15. It’s been a torrid 2020 season for Adelaide but they can now play with a small sense of freedom given that unwanted record is no longer hanging over their head. Tom Lynch and Wayne Milera are both aiming for a return before the season’s out, but unfortunately it won’t be in this one.

GWS got out of jail with a come-from-behind win over the Blues on Thursday night. The win now makes them fancies to finish the home-and-away season inside the Top 8. There’s still huge question marks over the credentials of the Giants, who were scrappy for much of the Carlton clash and were wasteful in front of goal (they kicked 2.11 up to three quarter time). But victory here will leave them needing just one more win (against either Melbourne or St Kilda) to seal a finals berth. And from there, anything’s possible…
