The biggest mismatch of the AFL round 13 preview sees winless, last-placed Adelaide Crows host in-form heavyweights Geelong Cats.

The Crows’ 57-point loss to the Bulldogs on Sunday was their fifth by more than 50 points this season, and the third in their past four outings.

The 8–4 Cats, meanwhile, have won three in a row – including emphatic defeats of high-flying teams St Kilda (59 points) and Port Adelaide (60 points) in the past two rounds. They kicked 14 goals and conceded just four in both victories.

Veteran full-forward Tom Hawkins has been in magnificent touch, slotting 11 goals across the wins over the Saints and Power, while another old stager, Gary Rohan, kicked seven. But it’s Geelong’s defensive ruthlessness that has fellow flag contenders looking over their shoulders.

Geelong and Adelaide met twice in 2019, with the Cats winning by 24 points in round 3 and 27 points in round 15. Former Crow Patrick Dangerfield picked up three Brownlow votes in the earlier clash.
