The eighth-placed outfit were coming off a handy 3-1 win in Gosford – only their second victory in 11 games.
The last-placed Newcastle Jets finally earned some relief with a 4-3 win over the Mariners at home in Week 18. The Jets had managed just two points and scored only six goals in their previous nine games. Dimitri Petratos scored a goal in each half of the long-awaited result.
This will be Carl Robinson’s first game in charge as Jets coach. Meanwhile, interim Wanderers coach Jean-Paul de Marigny is still getting familiar with his side.
The Jets are unbeaten in their last seven against Wanderers, winning the last four straight. WSW crashed 2-0 when they ventured to Newcastle in late-November.
Newcastle have lost five straight on the road by a combined 16-4. Last week’s win over a poor Mariners line-up won’t assist them here.
