News breaking of the potential sale of the club could have proved unsettling for Perth Glory, but they extended their unbeaten A-League streak with a 1-all draw against the Roar in Redcliffe last weekend. Though letting in an 85th-minute equaliser after Bruno Fornaroli opened the scoring in the first half was disappointing, it was a decent result given the Glory’s ACL trip to Tokyo earlier in the week.
Newcastle remain mired in second-last but have gone unbeaten in their last four games and seem headed in the right direction under new manager Carl Robinson. The Jets played out back-to-back 1-all draws against Wanderers and the Victory in the past fortnight.
Perth boast five wins and a draw from their last six games against Newcastle. The Jets managed a 1-all home draw in November, but the Glory meted out a 6-2 thrashing in Perth just before Christmas. Fornaroli and Diego Castro both notched braces in the latter beatdown.
The travel-weary Glory – only slight favourites – could be a little down on top form, but with the race for second spot heating up they should have enough gas in the take to get the win.
