The second-last Jets (just one point ahead of the Mariners) have notched draws with Western United and Wanderers either side of a 4-3 win over Central Coast in their last three. Matthew Millar found the 74th-minute equaliser in the Jets’ 1-all stalemate at BankWest Stadium last weekend.
The rank disappointments of the 2019-20 A-League season, the Victory have picked up just one point from their past five games. The perennial heavyweights’ promising 2-all draw in Perth gave way to a 2-1 derby loss to City FC before their Week 19 bye. The Victory kicked off their Asian Champions League campaign with a 1-0 home win over Chiangrai United last week but lost by the same scoreline away to FC Seoul on Tuesday.
Melbourne Victory have won eight and drawn two of their last 13 against the Jets – including a 4-0 rout at AAMI Park last month. The Victory won their last two in Newcastle by 1-0 scorelines.
