The Roar have had the wood on City FC this season, snatching a 4-3 win in Redcliffe in November and a 2-all draw in Brisbane last month.
But they have won just one match between the sides staged in Melbourne – way back in 2010. City boast a record of nine wins and three draws at home against Brisbane since then and have won the last three encounters at AAMI Park by a combined 7-1.
The Roar are in fine form, however, climbing to sixth after losing only one of their last nine games. Robbie Fowler’s gritty charges backed up consecutive wins over Adelaide and Western United with a 1-all draw against Perth at Redcliffe, thanks to Macaulay Gillesphey’s 85th-minute euqaliser.
Melbourne City hold a share of second but are wobbling. A derby win over the Victory was bookended by losses in Adelaide (3-1) and Wellington (1-0) before last week’s bye. City have proved a tough beat at home this season but the Roar have form on the board and are juicy outsiders in this one.
