Last week’s 2-1 upset of Adelaide lifted them to ninth. But consistently producing that form is the key for the Mariners – they lost to nil in their previous two games against Brisbane and Sydney.
Perth Glory have seemingly recovered from a miserable start to the year that garnered only one win from their first seven games. Last year’s Premiers Plate winners are on a three-match winning streak, blitzing Melbourne City (3-0), Western Sydney (2-0) and Newcastle (6-2). Diego Castro and Bruno Fornaroli both scored twice against the Jets.
The Mariners’ 2-1 upset in Perth earlier this season snapped a four-match losing streak against the Glory. The Glory won their two game in Gosford last season by a combined 7-1.
Central Coast’s prospects of a repeat boilover don’t look great given Perth’s rampant recent form. But the Mariners have scored in each home game this year and should at least get on the board on New Year’s Eve.
