Preview:

The Sixers won a Super Over thriller at the SCG in late-December. Rival captains Callum Ferguson (52 off 42) and Moises Henqriques (41 off 30) top-scored as the teams finished tied on 149.

Tom Curran, who had 2/23 and 35 off 17 before bowling the Sixers to victory in the Super Over, was named man-of-the-match.

The 6-3-1 Sixers had their four-match winning streak ended by the Stars on Sunday. Their bowlers were carted for 1/219, while Ben Dwarshuis (42* off 17) top-scored for the Sixers in the 44-run defeat.

Thursday’s clash with the Hurricanes was rained off in the seventh over of the match.

The 4-5-1 Thunder have won only one of their last five games. Alex Hales (55 off 36) led them to a handy four-wicket win over the Hurricanes last Saturday.

But they went down to the Renegades by 12 runs (DLS) in a rain-affected clash in Canberra on Wednesday. Alex Ross (51 off 27) was superb after the Thunder’s top order capitulated.

Test star Nathan Lyon is set to come into the Sixers’ line-up for his first outing of BBL09. Josh Hazlewood and Steve Smith are unavailable due to ODI commitments. The Thunder – unencumbered by international duty – have named an unchanged squad.

The Thunder have been in a funk for some time, while the Sixers deserve their second-place status. Expect the pink half of Sydney to reign again tonight.
