Preview:

There will be no love lost when these two arch enemies do battle on Wednesday night at Suncorp Stadium. The last time New South Wales won back to back series against Queensland was way back in 2004/2005, so recent history is against the Blues if they are to get one over the northerns once more. Both sides haven’t been shy about shuffling their sides compared to a year ago, where the Blues took the honours 2-1. There are five new faces for New South Wales, with Queensland boasting the more experienced side, with some new players on the interchange.

The Blues are narrow favourites at $1.77, but they have a poor record in games in Brisbane, winning just 19 off 55 matches at Suncorp Stadium. The Maroons are rare home outsiders at $2.05, but there are plenty of question marks about them. Half back and captain Daly Cherry Evans hasn’t played club footy for a month, and will return in the cauldron of State of Origin. Coach Kevin Walters has opted for a best players approach, with usual half backs Michael Morgan and Ben Hunt playing centre and hooker respectively.

With little to separate the two sides, The Wolf is backing Queensland to get the job done in game one. They will target new Blues five-eighth Cody Walker and demand out of form half Nathan Cleary get the job done, and he could struggle.
