Preview:
Newcastle will hope to regain half back Mitchell Pearce for their Friday night clash with the Dogs in the Hunter as they look to keep in touch with the top four.
Pearce, David Klemmer, Tim Glasby and Daniel Saifiti have all been named to back up for the Knights, with their three forwards listed as reserves and Knights fans will be hoping they can back up from Origin on Wednesday. The Dogs don’t have any such issues, with second gamer Brandon Wakeham shifting into the starting side in their only notable change.
Canterbury won its last NRL match against Cronulla, but will have their work cut out for them if they want to make it two in a row. The Knights dominated their Magic Round clash to win 22-10, racing out to a 16-0 lead. Prior to that, it was the Dogs who held sway in the head to head, winning six in a row. Despite the absence of Kalyn Ponga, Newcastle should have too many ace’s in the deck for the Dogs to trouble them and The Wolf is backing the home side in on Friday night.
