Many have already written the West Coast Eagles off for season 2022, and should the Eagles drop this Round 1 clash against the Suns at Optus Stadium then they’ll already be baying for blood out West.

West Coast did look shot towards the end of last season, dropping winnable games and a pre-season riddled with injury will see the likes of Oscar Allen, Jamie Cripps, Dom Sheed, Luke Shuey, Alex Witherden and Elliott Yeo miss out on playing in the season opener, not to mention Jack Darling who’s only just returned to the side.

The Suns are notorious for playing well in the early part of the season, and while Ben King is out of the side for the season with an ACL, the spearhead has signed a bumper new contract with the club.
